Novartis will launch Migranal...a dihydroergotamine (DHE) nasal spray. Both DHE and sumatriptan are serotonin agonists. Sumatriptan is faster-acting...but DHE lasts longer.
Three new oral "triptans" are also close to approval...Zomig (zolmitriptan, Zeneca)...Maxalt (rizatriptan, Merck)...and Amerge (naratriptan, Glaxo).
