Accolate (zafirlukast) MIGHT lead to liver dysfunction
Zeneca is now cautioning that their new asthma drug Accolate (zafirlukast) MIGHT lead to liver dysfunction.
The other leukotriene inhibitor, Zyflo (zileuton) has strong warnings about liver toxicity. Patients starting Zyflo should get at least seven liver function tests in the first year.
With Accolate you only need to suggest liver tests if patients develop symptoms...nausea, jaundice, or abdominal pain.
