Fortovase, a "stronger" version of Invirase (saquinavir) for HIV

Roche is now marketing Fortovase, a "stronger" version of Invirase (saquinavir) for HIV.

Both Fortovase and Invirase contain 200 mg of saquinavir...but Fortovase comes as a soft gel capsule to improve absorption.

Patients take more caps of Fortovase than they take of Invirase. They take 1200 mg of Fortovase TID...TWICE the usual dose of Invirase. This results in higher saquinavir concentrations and improved activity.
